What is Diamond Certification?
Diamonds are graded based on several different attributes which include the 4Cs (Carat, Color, Cut, Clarity) and additional measurements.
A Diamond certificate includes a grading/rating for each measurement of a diamond, from an independent laboratory. The purpose of a certification is give consumers an objective grading of the diamond.
If the certification was left up to jewelers or retailers, measurements would likely not be consistent across companies, and some companies could provide falsely exaggerated ratings. A Diamond certification clearly discloses the details of each individual diamond, and provides confidence for both buyer and seller.
This is why it is important to have independent, accredited laboratories certify your diamond.
Who are the Diamond Grading Laboratories?
The leading Diamond grading Lab in the world is the the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Some other large Labs that we purchase our Diamonds from include The International Gemological Institute (IGI), and The American Gem Society (AGS).
No one Diamond Laboratory is "better" than another. Some have just been around longer, and some specialize in grading specific types or shapes of diamonds, or diamonds from specific countries/areas.
We only purchase and sell diamonds that have been Certified by accredited Lab that we have vetted and trust, so you can be too.
Every diamond in our inventory has a unique certification number and has a copy of it's certificate displayed online. You will receive a this certificate of your Diamond that you purchase!
